Sure is funny how truck drivers working to much deserve fines until some faceless bureaucrat in an office, that never even pulled a boat trailer with a standard transmission in a pickup, decides its ok. Now its safe so long as your hauling baby formula. Haul anything else though and only shut down for 4-5 hours your a menace to public safety.

I was in a class yesterday where part of the presentation was by a DOT enforcement officer. It didn't take me long to get confused. Seems like everything you truckers do is a potential violation.

my wife used to dispatch fuel trucks and LP every year there was a few weeks where they declared a winter emergency and you could work as many hours as you wanted hauling LP and heating fuel

if it isn't safe the other 49 weeks of the year what makes it safe those 3-4

if every time it is even close to a emergency you allow these exceptions then the exception becomes the rule

either bring in National guard trucks to move the emergency fuel or places need to staff up that might mean training drivers to do other things or other workers to be drivers

but 2-3 exceptions to the rules for weeks every year isn't a rule.

Saving dying babies is a tad more important than a road accident.

Boco, regulations wont stop a guy to stupid to get some sleep. They only force them to park for ten hours. They just park in the back of the parking lot and stay up all night, saying the most nasty ignorant stuff on their CB's, drinking or smoking weed or both and fooling with the fancy ladies. EVERY profession has people that are just a waste of good air and stupid regs won't change that.
