It's maybe worse than that. On another thread someone posted a link saying police held up the Federal swat team from entering for quite awhile

Yes and you were making excuses why the cops took nearly an hour to take the shooter out while there where children still alive in there.

Almost like the order came from up the command chain to stall and allow more carnage.

What i don't t understand is even if they believed he wasn't shooting students inside any more they had to know there were people inside that needed medical help. My understanding was there was a kid inside who called 911 saying there were herself and several others that she could see that were still alive while the cops waited in the hallway.

I would like to think that I would have had the decency to go in and take him out. I have been in situations where i was just following orders (right or wrong) and I have been in situations where I didn't care about my job any longer and was going to do what was " right" and take the consequences later. I have also been in many situations where I wish I would have handled it differently. It is much harder to make the decisions "at the time" than after the fact. No one has all the info about what was happening at the time yet and probably never will. I just hope law enforcement doesn't get in my way if it happens near me. I know that they have had their hands tied (just look at the portland riots to confirm this) but at some point following orders is acting as an accessory -- either stay in and do the right thing or get out and let it self destruct by itself. If you are that terrified of dying -don't become a cop, fireman, or any other number of high risk jobs.

Like I said, My plan for our school is drive my pickup through the double front doors. Any armed parents will be welcome to jump in the bed. Everything I read about what happened in Uvalde is just disgusting.

If those time lines are true, somebody messed up big time. I worked in a high school as a guidance counselor. After Columbine, our joint training with law enforcement was if there is an active shooter, the police are to engage immediately even if there was only one officer on the scene. We had faith in them that they would come to our aid immediately and engage the shooter. No waiting, period. After Columbine, police in these situations are supposed to be trained in unorganized chaos in all types of scenarios. Apparently, they were not trained well enough for this one.

Not quite so simple -- first responders are "taught" to deal with that on a regular basis. There is alot going on at every emergency and communication can be less exact than internet social media. If you don't have a handle on it within 15 min chances are it will be a catastrophy. The people calling the shots are incompetent political pawns in most cases and as such are detached from real life. I feel for the officers (all of them)_ that had to go through this with their hands tied as much as I feel for all the families that had to go through this. The rest can rot in (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman).
