i caught a coon that was circling an elderly neighbors house this morning with distemper. when i dispatched i had blood splatter from its ear onto my chest an lower part of face.. i i took a shower and cleaned up.discarded the caucus and now truthfully not sure what to do.. being a holiday my doc wont be in till tuesday. board of health is closed also till then. the local hospital is subpar... i know it is not contagious to humans. any thoughts. for a man whos been around wildlife hid entire entire life i guess im just shook up and indecisive.

Dont worry about it. Just take a shower with good soap. Handled thousands of critters in both fur trapping and animal damage control....you will be fine.

Distemper is transmitted like the cold/flu. Don't drink after it and dont kiss it.

Get a Ketch-All pole and noose them, no shooting, no blood.

lol. last coon i kissed was a 45 dollar one in 1979.. now an ugly woman, well thats a couple beers away.

i brought it back to the house.with a catch pole. and for some stupid reason i gave it a wack with the hammer..stupidity is a friend i know well.

neither feline nor k-9 distemper is not supposed to effect humans.

Feline distemper would be the more common in raccoons as I understand it
