Dads cousin had an auto parts store in Colorado Springs in the 60's and Seventies. He sponsored a car for that race every year. Brought him a lot of business. Road was gravel then. Back in the days of carburated engines, I suppose they could make adjustments to the fuel mixture as the altitude increased, otherwise wouldn't they get too rich.
