Came across this awesome duck today and he was super photogenic. I’ve only seen a handful of them in my life and unlike the hybrid I photographed earlier this spring this bird appears to be a purebred.

Beautiful bird! Only seen two in my life. One in Arizona while turkey hunting. The other a few weeks ago in Washington turkey hunting. The ones in Washington were just swimming in a ditch next to some wetlands in the valley. A long dip net and I probably could’ve caught the pair! Teal are my favorites…hunting and eating!

Only seen 2 in my life I would give positive ID to. Unbelievable picture. Worked wetlands for 28 years. Thank for the excellent pictures. Wish I was still young enough to spend that much time in the wetlands admiring our wetland birds. At my age it’s spotting scope or binocs from a state or federal roadway. Enjoy all you can I did.

It takes a good photographer to consistently get shots like that, but it helps when you have good equipment. What camera were you using?

Beautiful bird and photos!! Awesome! I haven't come across any in Minnesota but have shot a few down in Mexico back in the 80's.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Mark, My camera is a Nikon D500 and lens is a Sigma 150-600.
Good equipment does really help.
