Will he be punished? Will he be ostracized by the other officers?

Watch the whole thing

Those deputies had to tackle him, he wouldn't drop his assault keys.

It will be interesting to see how this is discussed in our use of force classes.

sadly it is a lot of tensions running high they cook up the worst possible story for why a guy isn't stopping while in pursuit. get all worked up that it will be a big thing. then when a guy with dementia gets out totally confused .
they don't shift gears and calm down and he gets tackled.

this may be a unpopular opinion ,but currently seeing my grandmothers loose their minds , they might have just done him a favor.

clearly they didn't do the right thing , but they may have done him and the family a favor , everything will get paid for in wrongful death but he won't have to live through the loss of his mind and the total breakdown of his body.

again clearly the wrong thing for the department ,the jurisdiction , the tax payer and just all around.

as a society we could learn a lot if our 20 year olds were taking care of our 80-90 year olds , you learn a lot more than anyone will ever tell you about the end of life by living it out closely with a family member.

Good grief! That appeared to be very unnecessary. Another black eye for LE.

What about the deputy that is saying foul? What happens to him? Nothing good I venture.

Why do you never hear about State Troopers doing this sort of thing?

My guess is most States have much higher standards and better psychological screening when hiring State Troopers.

they used to have the hardest entry school and vetting, a cop friend who's wife was State patrol said they had such issues hiring that it went way down from the previously very highest levels of training around.

hiring cops lately has been really difficult and turn over , well just say the trend in employment for those under 40 isn't limited to private industry alone and is to not stay someplace long , quit with no plan if something upsets you and to go to a higher paying job without thinking through all of the costs it will mean after all it pays more.

also the state troopers 99% of the time have to figure it out alone they don't have another trooper even 15-30 minutes away so they can get local backup maybe if they aren't all tied up.

also significantly less of them in WI it is maybe 1 per rural county 489 total state patrol in WI that averages to 6 per county there are definitely not 6 in most counties

If I encounter law enforcement I no longer trust them.....way too many videos of cops overreaching the law and people who stand for their rights being unduly harassed/arrested/detained/abused/etc. Never answer questions, evoke your rights and always video cops.

He should be given a promotion for exposing the truth of what happened. I’m sure he was aware of possible repercussions from fellow officers and the department. He’s an example of a good police officer. The one idiot shouldn’t have a badge.
