85 years ago sportsmen came together and the Pittman-Robertson Act was passed that added an 11% tax on guns, ammo and archery equipment to be set aside for conservation. I think most or all of us would agree we're ok with paying a few extra bucks for a gun or box of shells knowing that money is going towards a worthy cause.
I also think a lot of us would agree there's a mental health crisis in America that's to blame for the increase in mass shootings lately.
Would you support an added tax on firearms and ammo, like the P-R Act, to be set aside for mental health help? I know I don't want to pay any more for guns and ammo than I already am, but I think it would be good PR for gun owners.
What do ya think? Another tax? I've got a ? Not trying to hijack you're post but how many of these shooters do you suppose were born again believes? Truly saved peaple who put others before themselves. All the taxes in the world can't fix selfishness and evil. Killing our own baby's has been the new normal for almost 70 years. Our county is morally bankrupt.

They waste enough already and redistribute elsewhere.

No. Poll taxes were found to be illegal. Can't tax a constitutionally enumerated right.

What do ya think? Absolutely not. Mental health care isn't a gun owner's problem, it's a social problem. They already enjoy wildlife on the landscape that we fund, along with outdoor infrastructure. Time for society at large to pay their fair share.

How about a tax to pay an instructor in every school in the U.S. to teach firearm instruction and safety. For credit hours of course. This course would include live fire training for firearms from shotguns to AR style rifles.

The true stopping point, is to have no soft targets . Veterans , civilians , teachers , who apply and qualify, would be great no nonsense walls in protecting schools. The greatest army in the country are our vets who are fully trained and would love to serve their country again in protecting their citizens. All other problems would soon weed themselves out against that wall of protection. And I bet it would stop immediately once the word gets out. NO on wasting money on any other so called cause, when they can cut right to the chase and protect the schools immediately.

I believe Ohio just made it so after 24 hours of training any teacher could carry at school....should be for any school employee.
