OK, I am hijacking my own thread with this respnse, but:

That statement used to be true, and still is in most places....Large cities, Minneapolis included, now have gunshot monitors. A gunshot report is picked up on several receivers. The sound gets triangulated and pinpointed.

No.

An arrow through the vitals would though. Especially if the bear ran off to hide before it died.

Being it's not your lively hood, I can understand your apprehension.

If it was my hives, I'd take whatever was the cheapest measure.

Kill an unborn baby but can't kill a nuisance animal.
Yeah, take that to court wink

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Yeah, I'm serious. And yes. I am out of here. It just takes a bit of time. I am expecting an offer that I can't refuse around mid June.

Kidding or not.....that is pretty much what I was told by the DNR. If I could prove a certain amount of income from the bees...they might consider providing an electric fence...if I could compress the area to almost nothing. As for the quail....too bad. Minnesota sucks.

I have to admit I will be enjoying a bit of experimenting over the next couple weeks.

Years ago when baiting bears here I got a couple drums of used fryer grease from a barbecued pork place in Kansas City. It smelled terrific and brought the bears in like crazy, once. They ate some and never came back within miles (figuratively) of those sites. Too spicy.
If Momma g’s or the Lookout, or Lindys will give you half an ice cream pale full of used oil spice the bejesus out of it and set it out. Screw the pale bottom to a piece of plywood so when they drink they stand on it and don’t tip th pale over. Let them both get a snoot full.

Along the same line as Osky, I know people who set out canisters of bear spray or bottles of bleach. Bear will often bite the can/bottle and not enjoy the results. Your can smear cooking grease on the can if you think they will need encouragement.
