Can anyone tell me if these have anything to do with Bill Nelson?

Maybe they are named after this Trapper Nelson. I still haven't found a connection to him and these packboards which were made in Seattle. I guess I'll keep digging.

Think the inventor of the Trapper Nelson pack was a guy named Lloyd Nelson from Washington and it was loosely based on an Indian willow framed backpack.

Thanks, my google abilities had failed me. I was hoping it was a trapping related item but I guess it's just more of a back pack with the Trapper name thrown on it. I did learn a few things today though. Not sure how I had made it this far without ever hearing of the Wildman of the Loxahatchee. lol

Well, they kinda were trapper related. Lots of the old Alaskan sourdoughs and trappers carried them in the 30s and 40s era. Was probably the best thing available at the time.
The Alaskan Scouts during WWll used as part of their gear also. Jim Reardon wrote a book on the Alaskan Scouts and there is mention of the Trapper Nelson Packs in h his book.

Cool. Thanks for the additional information. I was trying to determine if this would be considered a trapping collectable or not.
