A couple weeks ago, my wife was sitting outside after dark. She came running into the house and said there's a weird sounding animal in the woods.
I went out and listened. I heard something almost screeching in the pine trees that sounded like a wildcat or something similar.

Last night my daughter was over and we heard the same weird sound. She knew right away what it was because they live on the river and have seen the bird that makes the sound, a Green Heron.

Anybody know the sound I'm talking about? Doesn't sound anything like a bird.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Yep, hear them quite often around the house. That "call" sure is weird.

Ever hear a hummingbird scream hard to believe such a sound can come from such a small thing, lots of birds have odd calls that unless you have heard them before you would never associate with them

My grandpa, of German heritage, called them that. As a young lad, I asked what does that mean? He told me something about what comes out of them when they take flight, and that it was as long as a boat.
