Animals have the ability to adapt and so do we. I just bought a 2000 Toyota Echo. Gets 42 MPG and has good ground clearance. Good in up to 10" of snow but better for an auto line. With a large trunk and back seat removed, this car has it all! Plus, most of these will go up to 400,000 miles without major repairs if cared for properly.

I've got a new dog so it will be a lot of fun with her learning to work, with gas prices this high it may change my start time, maybe? I will be trapping same as always.

I am lucky to have land to trap very close to my place . I could walk to a lot of it if I needed too . Been trapping much of it for 70 years now ,and hope to get to trap it for some years to come . 80th birthday coming up in August and if the good Lord is willing l will have traps out this Winter . I am still able to get around quite well . Those critters need thinned out if they are worth 50 cents or 50 bucks . The farmers around me know I will keep them in check as I have for their Fathers and Grandfathers before them . The trap line keeps me active , and that is worth the little it may cost in these hard times . I've been through every boom and bust since the early 50's . This bust will not stop me . Maybe next year will be a boom , one can dream .

Going to stay close to home, use a canoe more...No intention of making $$ much at all, just recreating and helping landowners and wildlife, may tan a few pelts.

We cancelled one vacation due to my wife's poor knees and now with the first knee surgery scheduled for June we won't go any place the rest of the year. So it is garden and close to home activities for me. Trapping will be on the menu and I will work hard on rats, more on coon than the last 5 years and run a couple short canine lines. A few more years of low interest and or minimal markets and we may well not even have a place to unload fur at any price. With coyotes losing favor that makes most of our WI fur very low in value. Even if I spend a $1,000 more than my fur is worth, compared to a supply dealer, fur buyer or fur ranch owner my losses are minimial and I can enjoy losing those dollars. There are persons I know that spend way more than that golfing or bowling or buying lottery tickets.

Ohiosnare, I don't know anybody that has been trapping for 70 years. You deserve the Daniel Boone award for longevity in the trapping trade! (Ol' Daniel was still trapping at 78 years old up the Missouri river).

Ive been trapping 70 yrs, definetly some slower but smarter trapping. The git up and go is there but the go peeters out sooner.....LOL>

Going to do what I have in the past. Set a few traps and enjoy it as much as I can.

I have never trapped for the money. Paid buzzard to teach me to trap. Best money I've ever spent. Gained 20 years of knowledge and a life long friend. My father passed away 5 years ago and I lost interest in rabbit hunting. I realized that rabbit hunting isn't the same without dad. I used to trap for the rabbit population on my 155 acres as well as the few farms that I had exclusive hunting rights.
I'm a business man. Have owned my own company for 23 years.
In my opinion furs will never be worth the cost to catch them and put them up for sale.
The only money to be made in trapping is nuisance trapping.
Nobody wants a trapper until something happens that triggers them emotionally. Cat or lap dog goes missing.
Everyone hates a trapper until they need one.
I charge dearly. Trapping is an art that very few people know. I'm not the best but I'm the best around here.

Ill put in a few coyote sets close to home. The boy asked every day to check traps before daycare when he was 2. Hopin he will be more excited to do it this year. May do a little more pheasant hunting this year.
