Do they sink after being shot with buckshot? I have always used a 22 or 17 when they are swimming

Taken about four dozen whitetail in the 60s and 70s with buckshot. I found 00 and 000 worked best with a 30 full choke 3” model 1100. Many times I would see exit wounds, but most pellet stopped under the hide on the off side. I once killed two deer with one shot using buckshot. Deer were running in tall grass and pine seedlings. Never saw but one deer but found two size by side.

Never tried the smaller buckshot, but yes they sink with the big 36 cal(000) buckshot. Not a problem when shooting in ditches and ponds-retrieveable with a pike pole. They dont swim away to die.

I may try some of the 24 cal (No. 4) buckshot, but having good results with the big shot.

I have killed a lot of beaver with rifles, but for my old eyes now in the dim light, buckshot is deadly.

buckshot is better than a rifle if you are a poor shot!

At shotgun ranges I never considered that as a factor.(some might)
Low light conditions old eyes and occasionally moving target is more of a consideration for me.

I'll take good hunting skills and ethics over shooting skills any day all day

I guess it depends is it flooding a FIB's condo or a 40 of row crop?

cause I certainly wouldn't want to injure some one's delicate sense of sporting and ethics if they are cool with the condo under water.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
