Looking for some advice where I can buy and or any help in trying to accomplish installing a small gas engine on a shallow well to pump water. I'm looking for a gear box or setup that I can pulley drive a pitcher pump to extract water. A unit with the wood arms that were a common sight at stock tanks all over the west in the day.
Any help in purchasing one of them or any style that I could install a gas engine and be driven with a pulley setup.
If anyone can help me, it would be from this group of very creative and life experienced people that visit here.
Thanks

Thanks! This is kind of what I'm looking for or one that has the wood arms that has a small gear box that attaches to the piston rod.

I use a vintage shallow well piston pump. Removed the electric motor and bolted a 3 1/2 horsepower Briggs in its place. Pumps well at about 2000 rpm. Pumps are rebuildable with a sheet of gasket rubber to trace gaskets on.

I wanted to bring this thread back up for recycling to see if anyone knows where I can get the pitman wood arms or a pump like this or one. One that will be able to attach to a long pitch pump like in the picture I posted.
Thanks

Have you tried Lehman’s hardware store they carry a lot of good for the Amish, I know they used to carry windmills and water pumps and pump jacks ect, if the don’t have anything listed in their catalog I would give them a call, chances are someone there can point you in the right direction https://www.lehmans.com/?gclid=Cj0K...AWJQCKyx-vAbTVvYJCN838n9gQaAm3uEALw_wcB#

Why use the wood rods they make steel ones with a brass bushing . What diameter cylinder do you have in the well the bigger the better if the recovery flow rate will handle it . Bailing or cleaning the well out would be a good idea first I've got the truck and bail close by but not the lift rods .
