Glad your home survived! Looks like you've got some cleanup work to do, but the land will heal.

That sucks, but like all said, you are safe.

My gun club had a tornado hit it about 4 years ago, took 75 percent of the mature trees. Oaks, hickories and maples. Root balls and all. Nature heals with time. It will be different for sure though.

Looks like you will be able to add a few cord to the woodpile.

Yes thankful everyone is ok along with neighbors whose houses are ruined. I’m sure it will look a lot better in a few years. I made it half way through the access road on the first 40 only 5 and a half more to go. It’s crazy how one storm can change everything about the land.I could get lost in a quick hurry now.

Wow man its tough to take, I know. Hurricane Fran destroyed a lot around here back in 96, but all we can do is move forward day by day.

I've been there. EF-5 hit one of our farms 4-27-11. Trees 5-6ft dia thrown all over the place. Lost almost 3 miles of fence. 80 acre place, thought we'd never be able to use it again. But everyone around us showed up and showed out! It's more open now, more grazing and hay ground.

We're still cleaning up from two storms about a week apart. Farms destroyed and even one small town decimated. One of my neighbors lost a larg portion of his roof and managed to get it replaced just in time to lose it a week later in the second storm. Fortunately no injuries or fatalities. I know it sounds a bit shallow but you can replace materialistic items.

I just about got my woods cleaned up from a storm back in 2010. Thankfully I burn wood but without a bobcat the job would have been impossible.

If I was a bit closer I would come help. I know it's overwhelming but try to stay positive, at some point all that wood may turn out to be a blessing.

Sometimes I think the good Lord decides he is going to increase your bounty... But he includes the work to build the character to handle it.

I remember what Hurricane Hugo did in South Carolina.

Do you get many tornado events in Wisconsin? The earth is warming. Expecting record number on hurricanes in the SE.

They've been screaming "record hurricane season expected" for quite a few years now.

I had a tornado go thru my woods several years back. Lots of downed trees.

I had the nicer stuff (Oak, Cherry, Maple and Hickory) turned into lumber,
the crappy stuff (aspen, red maple) sold cheaply in 8ft lengths for firewood to guys with outdoor wood burners
and some ended up as quality firewood.

Because of the amount of stuff it didn't pay to make as much as possible into firewood as most would end up rotting before it got used. So it might as well rot in the woods. Letting some stuff rot in the woods is a good thing.
The price of firewood dropped in the area after this, lots of firewood available.

I still have lots of damaged and bent over trees that have not been cleared out yet. Most will never be worth anything for logs due to this.

In the end its hard to see this much damage in a woodlot, especially if its yours. But its good for the woods. If managed properly your woods can be a better place using this a starting point.

Thanks for the encouragement. We will try and do what we
Can to salvage some of the wood in the front and see what it looks like in the back.
I’ll take some pics when I’m in there. A lot of it is low land so that will make it hard to get into it until
It freezes in the winter.
