My wife's brand-new car looks like someone took a ball peen hammer to it yesterday. Under 15,000 miles and the hood is trashed with dents all over the rest of the body. We have had it about a month. My truck faired a little better. Just the hood, mostly. Called the insurance company just after it happened. We will see what they have to say, I guess. You know it sucks! Busting your hump day in and day out and still can't have anything nice. We had about 5 minutes of ping-pong ball size hail yesterday.

I took my truck to the shop yesterday. It's only got about 40,000 miles on it. The paintless dent repair alone was $2300 for the small stuff on the sides. We had baseball/softball size hail. My neighbor called me because I wasn't home...she heard the hail hitting my truck from inside her house. Waiting to see what a new roof and hood will cost. I'm just hoping they don't total it. Will find out Monday for sure....

Man I'd be hoping they did total it. I've looked a few times when I needed a new truck, hoping to find a hail damaged one that had been totalled to buy cheap. But have never been lucky enough to find one that was what I wanted. If it was me and they totalled it out, I would take the money and buy it back from the insurance company. Nothing wrong with the vehicle. Now you have a almost new reliable rig with a bunch of dimples and a salvage title. . . but you also have a bunch of cash in your pocket! Yes, that will probably be the plan if they do total it. Might fix the hood and leave the rest. I only use it for trapping/calling anyways. It's been a pretty good truck. It was just in perfect condition, the only reason it was outside was I recently found a 2014 Mustang with 20, 000 miles on it in perfect condition so I let the truck eat the hail. Our roof and siding on the house will be the next step on Saturday. Our air conditioner went out last night with high in the 100's this week. When it rains it pours. My kids haven't been camping enough you'd thought they almost died last night wait till it really cooks today.

I bought a new car off the lot that had hail dimples everywhere. It was just over half price. But I bought it to drive, not to look at or show off. I wish I would have bought two now.

Did the same thing years ago. Brand new, Previous year model, Hail damaged (moderate to minor) Local incentives, Cash deal, Toyota Celica ... 60% off. I was mighty proud of those little dimples.

Years ago as a high-school student, I worked part time washing cars at a local car dealership. We has a hale stom roll through and you can imagine the damage it done to the car lot. The day the adjuster was to show up very hot and I was busy washing cars. Well the cold water on the hot metal caused many of the dents to pop back out leaving little or no trace. My boss was quite upset with me as the insurance check was a fraction of what it might have been. I found out later that the plan was to collect from the insurance company and then wash the cars. Some will use dry ice to remove the dents.
Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I have a guy ( Dent Wizard ) paintless dent repair….that comes to my shop ….it’s amazing what they can do with acorn dents and smaller hail damage.
