The owner did a class for the Pa. forestry dept in potter county. I hear it was really good and the guy knows his stuff about grafting.

Check the good nurseries at the end of the season, you can get some good buys. I picked up 2 Cortland and a Spy last year and they are growing great.

Are you not doing research to see how certain varieties do in your climate? You just need to ask and they don't quiz you on your purposes. I have both contributed varietals and picked up new strains for our farm. I was always clear what my intents were which was to see if a variety would do well for me in my circumstances.

The stuff I got shipped to me as a dry bare root, only about half come back alive

I wish my county sold trees.

I've planted bare root pears, but not apples Maybe next year. The bare root plum trees I planted this year are doing great.
