During this past storm we had a shagbark hickory fall. It's a very good sized tree. The log has nothing for branches for at least 30 feet. The stump end is close to 3' across. Anybody have any pointers on selling it? Do I call a sawmill direct? If I can't find anybody interested I know a guy with a small mill. I'll have him slab it up for me.

Best bet is to call a mill, if they want it they will advise you ot the lengths they want.

We had a hickory tree go down last year. Called the mill, got a price. Sold it to a local guy that BBQ's / smoke's meat for more money
than the mill offered.

It cost more to truck one log than the log is worth. Plus most mills want Bitternut Hickory.
