Lots of interesting dog beads and not-so-good-looking handlers.

A vet in my old hometown won the best in show about 25 years ago with a dog named Peggy Sue.

We're watching it too. We have a Jack Russel and also a Yellow Lab whose Grandfather was at Westminster. Love watching the Terrier Group.

They are just so dang much fun! We got ours when he was around 2 years old and he's around 15 now. If he wasn't so dang gunshy he'd be a fun hunter. He has a nose and prey drive like none other I have ever had.

His name is Toby...short for Tobias Von Wigglestein.

I've always loved JRT's but right now I have a Jagd/English shepherd cross. No way Loki would even come close to making it to Westminster!

Toby is the smartest dog I have ever been around. He howls like a coyote if you put your arms up in the air and say "Touchdown...Packers!" He pretty much runs the place and for the most part is a laid-back couch potato.

Nice to see the blood hound win best in show. Working dogs and hounds are my favorite groupings. Lot of coon hounds in the hound group last night.

Been thinking about the Jagd Terrier. I have read several accounts of them duck hunting which is my main hunt.

It used to be a big deal when my kids were young and still living at home, we'd all sit down and watch the show together.

I sent them messages that it was on this year.

Eh...wot?

Talk to dead coyote about them. He has them and can tell you more about them than I can.

Had a blue heeler - black lab mix named Jasper. Got him for my grandkids in Denver. For about three weeks before the grandkids came to NC, I would take Jasper to a dog park to play with other dogs. All my dog wanted to do was race, and he was the fasted dog there. Then one day an overweight Jack Russell showed up. My dog was about one year old and the portly Jack Russel was surely ten. That cubby JR Terrier ran circles around my dog. It was the fasted dog I ever met. I thought my slim and fit dog was fast, but not by a long shot. That JR out ram big dogs and small dogs. It was smart as well.

Do Jack Russels shed?

Short haired JRT's will shed. Corse haired ones usually don't.

I agree. Jadg might have the will and drive but you need a dog with longer legs to deal with the muck.

The best waterfowl/upland combo dog I ever owned was a mutt, lab/english pointer cross was the best guess since I got her at the shelter.. Best upland dog was a pure english pointer...once he was fully trained. My best police/narcotic demo dog was a dutch shepherd.

Yeah, I have been a Lab man since the early 70's. Took a chance on an American Water Spaniel in the late 80's. Did not work out well for anyone, especially my wife who had to drag it back to the truck from a pothole in Saskatchewan after getting bit. That dog was lucky our son was along or it would still be up there.

When the time comes I am sure I will come to my senses and get another Lab.

I love an all purpose dog which is what leads me to a lab. They can flush, point, retrieve, heck do about anything you ask of them

I am also very impressed with the Drathaar's/Wirehairs. They can play the retriever game but it is a small portion of the breed. I had the pleasure of watching the first Drathaar in history to earn his Finished level title at an HRC hunt test a few weeks ago. He owned the test. Nothing better than a dog that can do it all

Cannot watch anything like the Westminister here, or anything dog related . Our Aussie, Ranger, goes absolutely nuts about dogs on TV!
