Can anyone recommend a book with canning recipes ??

i just canned a batch of 76 cans of green beans and have at least that again to do by the end of this week. But then the other stuff will be ready to pick, like corn and bunch of berries tomatoes, squashes , peppers and a host of other things. I want to can a bunch this season and not put all my eggs in one basket by just freezing stuff. The plan is to be able to walk right by the produce section of the grocery store and have most of what we want on hand.

If do facebook is a group on there called rebel canners. The wife is a big fan of them.

True, but that can be said of many subject matter books these days.

One reason I hang on to and treasure older editions.

That's a very good site.
There's a few others , but Rebel Canners are the best I've found so far .

Old Ball Books are the good ones , there's others like Amish canning , and some that could be good also , join a group and get some feed back on them .

I am not a canner yet but plan to be later this year. I found this LINK. Thought it might help w/o having to buy the book.

Well I ordered the Ball Complete Book Of Home Preserving and it should be here on Monday. Till then I am on familiar turf as far as canning goes with a whole lot more green beans to do. We got 15 gallons to of the two top rows I planted early so far with easily another 15 in those two rows. Then I have a couple of rows of a different variety that I planted later. They should start to produce in a couple of weeks or so. Got to get a bunch more jars and lids for this season. Only had about 100 or so last season and will probably triple that this year with all the stuff we are going to can this time around.
I have booted Mr Zuckerberg from my social media, so Facebook is a non starter for me. But thank you good folks for pointing me in the right direction.

My wife and I do a lot of canning. When it comes to canning corn,,I have tried about every gadget under the sun to remove the kernals from the cob. Electric Fillet knife is by far the quickest and easiest way. Just a heads up for when you do your corn. smile

Next will be the space and shelves to hold the bounty. If your wife is anything like mine you can NOT build them too heavy duty. Tell them until you are blue in the face about weight capacity is along the lines of the woman getting over drafts because she still has checks in her checkbook so she can't be over drawn.

I checked fleabay and it looks like older copies back to the forties can be had for less than a good beaver trap.

When I bought my Presto pressure canner I got a very good book on canning a whole host of food items and it covers the water canner method as well. As to canning corn? I cook it like I am going to eat it in my 30 quart turkey fryer containeer on the burner, cool it of and slice it with a sharp knife. I have been freezing my corn, beans, cauliflower, brocolli, beets etc. for many years. I can do about 40 full sized ears at a time and I can cut the ears and bag 40 ears in less then a half hour.

This is the one that was recommended to me by my husband's boss. He's been canning for 60+ years.

We use old gravity fed Coca Cola racks like this. Meant for holding 2 liters but hold quart jars great. Work like a charm and can be moved around easily. We have 8 or 10 of them

Yup, storage is always a consideration. Cool and dark is ideal, though you don't want damp or humid as the rings and lids can rust.

The best I saw was a neighbor that had a basement and they had taken the space under the front porch and lined it floor to ceiling with 2x4 shelving screwed to the cinder block.

Scuba1, the only book you'll need is now in something like it's 5th edition. It is called "Putting Food By", by Janet Greene and Ruth Hertzberg. Amazon has gobs of copies. EXCELLENT book.
