Hey all,

So i rebuilt the transmission on the JD and it runs great. The mower did just fine cutting before it did but now when i engage the blades the deck quakes and it shuts off. Everything looks attached and nothing out of place. Doesnt matter if i got full power or alittle power...the deck shakes and the mower shuts off.

When the blades arent engaged. The mower runs like a champ in all the power settings, big difference with the rebuild.

the pullies dont seem bent, the belt looks to be in place...etc. just trying to get ideas. thanks!

There is a anti reverse switch that will do that if out of adjustment. It is there to keep you from being able to mow in reverse. As soon as it trips the mower will shut down. Mine is a 130

Might take a look at the blades too. If you sharpened them, and they're bent or out of balance they will rattle your teeth loose.

Check the switch under the seat. I have same mower(2003) and it just slides in place but every now and then it works loose

Ok, thanks I'll check those out it's a used mower so I'll just swap out the blades since I'm doing the tran anyhow. Haven't sharpened then since I got the mower this year.

I disconnected the switch earlier so I could get off the mower if I had to, I'll plug that back in..just in case. .

Drifter, that's interesting. Don't recall an anti reverse switch but I'll look for one . It's hydro static, and I can mow in the reverse or forward.

Oh, nvm I put a jumper on it..lol that's why I can go reverse without holding down that stupid button. First thing I did when I got that tractor.

In that case I would suspect the blade or blades got bent as don't think they are timed like some mowers.

Check your spindles, sounds like one is loose or the bearings are shot

Ha, believe it or not it was just the kill switch underneath the seat! Runs perfectly... Thanks, was really thinking it had to be something else when I could get off the tractor while it's idling.. well, it must still work with the kill switch unplug to mow. Nope. Thanks for the input.

I need a wheel horse spindle, or three.
Had the motion control safety switch go bad. That took a while to cypher out.

huh, how did you narrow that one down? Not much wiring on this one, got enough of it in the dang cars let alone a lawn mower.

Remove one switch at a time and jumper wire them til it started.
Then went and bought the 12 buck switch.
I tried every way to use a multi meter, too many settings on this one for me.
Old guy at dealer said you can not test those.
But they keep us safe lol.

I have a 1979 here I been wanting to get into.
Was told the jd green paint is way over priced.

My Son bought a new rider last year. What a hunk of junk compared to old iron.
But we wanted cheaper. <-- Careful what ya wish for.
