I got learnt the hard way on a steep hill out back of the neighbor's house, by the toughest guy in town. Her name was Karen. Last instructions I got before she pushed me and the bike down the hill was, "Hang on!" (I believe that was her only instructions.) No more sage advice has ever been given since the invention of the bicycle. Hang on or die was my choice.
