Those are opposite, what areas should I be looking for ash trees, I am looking for one to make a packbasket.

Most of the ash trees are dead in my neighborhood. Basically firewood is all they are good for. They were infested with emerald ash borer I believe.

That picture wouldn't show you if it is alternate or opposite because that is not multiple leaves it is ONE compound leaf made up of 7 leaflets. The tree will also have alternate branching if its a hickory or opposite branching if its a ash.
