I’ve got one with a walnut stock and blued. Like new maybe 100 rounds through it. Scope rings but no scope. What do you think it’s worth?

I’ve got a Ruger M77 in .280
That gun outshoots anything else I have. Everyone I shoot with has offered to buy that gun, ain’t no way I’d sell it.

Used Ruger M77's have increased in value quite a bit since that start of 2022. I have been following them in hope of starting a small collection .In good condition $7 to $9 hundred is about normal .But if you are looking for something that is a little more rare such as a 257 Roberts ,25.06,264 Mag or .284 or one that they produced in an Ultra Light caliber such as .308.you might need to pay twice that much to get one in very good condition. But on the other hand the price of guns that are in good condition have increase across the board no matter what the make or caliber they are .

Here is another caliber that was produced in a smaller amount than say a 243,270 or 30.06. From those that remember when Remington first came out with the .280 caliber that was the name it was given . Later due to low sales they renamed it the 7MM Express ,hoping to capitalize off of the 7MM Mag . That caused confusion so Rem went back to calling it the .280 since that time I saw a Ruger M77 that had .280/ 7MM Express stamp on the barrel .The .280 is a great caliber but it just never became a popular round

Hard to sell though. Gun broker gets a big fee. FFL dealer gets a fee and buyer has to hope the sellers word is good. Sure was easier when you could just list them in the classifieds of a newspaper. I would join facebook if they allowed firearms on marketplace. Something has to be shady about them since they do not. Same for craigslist. Arms list is a good place if your buying but I dont think to many gun nuts regularly peruse it.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Danny I agree with the hard to sell thought . You need to wade through a pile of rules and regulations to get to the point of as you say You hope the seller is good to his word

Yes the going rate right now is from $1400 to $1800 maybe a little more .According to what I can find only 465 or 467 ,I don't have the information right here , where ever chambered in the M77 IN .284 caliber .. And of course, not all of them are in very good or better condition. The .284 is another really great round that just never caught on with the shooting public . Right now several rifles in the 6.5/.284 wildcat range that are gaining a strong following

Thanks,

I bought it 30 years ago about from the guy who bought it new, he never shot it but I ran a couple boxes thru it. I bought it just because, lol.
Paid 250 for it.

The 264 is 1 of 35 according to Ruger. It’s stainless laminated that’s my favorite Ruger. Also have a 338
