In 2019, the state authorized the Climate Action Council to develop a plan for reaching the state’s climate goals. The Council’s Draft Scoping Plan calls for dramatic changes in how New Yorkers will heat their homes and the types of vehicles they drive in the future, among other things. The plan includes:

No new gas service to existing buildings, beginning in 2024;
No natural gas within newly constructed buildings, beginning in 2024;
No new natural gas appliances for home heating, cooking, water heating, clothes drying beginning in 2030;
No gasoline-automobile sales by 2035;
Installing onsite solar or joining a community renewables program by 2040; and
Installing geothermal heating by 2040.
Eliminating the use of natural gas, propane and heating oil will substantially increase the state’s demand for electricity and prove costly for consumers and businesses.

They don't mention anything about Diesel engines...

A big over step with little common sense. Will my woodstove be outlawed? How will all that electricity be generated, with fossil fuels ???

Are they going to outlaw Gasoline and Diesel Boat Engines?

Wood burning will be banned, and they will force us back to the stone age to take control of everything. Biomass is not included in the master plan.
