Absolutely. Im from northern Potter county. I can tell someone from done near I80 instantly when they talk.

Not that I can tell. I came from northern Centre County, but have lived in western Pa. most of my life. Now that I’m retired, I split my week between my house in Snow Shoe and one in Butler. Folks sound the same to me.

You can spot a Mon-Valley accent a mile away.

As for the mountain region of PA yes....

You can also tell someone from back east by the way they say water. Wooter.

This reminds me of the bar scene in Inglorious Basterds. I go to Johnstown and Altoona frequently and never noticed a difference?

If you are not a native you can notice the accent immediately. I notice it around Byrnedale, St.Marys. and Benezette.

I noticed it in the Mountain areas north of Williamsport. Don't know if it is some sort of english/ German Pennsylvania Amish accent , or what . But, you can definitely tell when you hear it

Southeastern PA............say east of Bedford...........yep.

Pixsburgh area................yep.

But never picked up anything too out of the ordinary along the middle Rte 6 corridor.

I worked outside of Huntingdon about 5 years ago. Never noticed any accents. Nor did I have any trouble understanding anyone around there.

My only gripes were the high gas prices... and the DQ in Huntingdon didn't serve burgers, ice cream only.

Gorgeous countryside though.

you can blame the high gas prices on the highest (or second-highest?) gasoline taxes in the nation.

Just came through there about an hour ago. Nice ridge lines for sure. The valleys werent flat but more of a rolling type terrain. Didnt look great for mink stops unless you went straight to the rivers there.
