Been doing some research and decided to go with a outboard for my canoe. 4 stroke. So far the top three are, in no particular order,
1. Mercury
2. Suzuki
3. Yamaha
Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. Or perhaps one I've overlooked, thanks y'all!!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Yamaha. Cheaper than Mercury and very reliable. I bought a 6hp 4 stroke Yamaha a couple years ago and read quite a bit on them. Yamaha is the way to go.

JP, They are about the same price now, as far as I've seen. I do admit I think the Yamaha looks like it's built better and I like the aluminum prop.

Now that I think about it, they were the same price except one place had the Yamaha $100 or $130 cheaper. So I lucked out on that one. Still, Yamaha would be my choice. Good luck!

Looks like that motor hasn’t seen the water in a while. Always working on it?

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. Or perhaps one I've overlooked, thanks y'all!! with those 3 it is a little like buying the top 3 names in chain saws who is around for dealers? how far do you have to drive to one? do any of them have anything in stock? do they do their own work or send it out? who stocks parts?
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
