Anybody use retrievable pogos? I know they’re suppose to be disposable but it just seams like it would be super easy to retrieve them with a wire on the edge of the washer.

Might be if you got the right soil and it doesn’t freeze.

I tried to make my own pogos and when I pulled them as a test the washer was folded. I didn't set them very deep and they pulled very easy . I wasn't sure if it folded when I drove it in the ground or when I pulled it ? Is that normal ? I was planning to use them for coon .
Thanks Terry

Since youre in texas im assuming youre talking land? In our darm country with black dirt i can retrieve 1 in 12 or 15 maybe that doesnt fold in half. I retrieve everything in the water though, practically undamaged. They are truly disposable on land. Cut and go.

Quickest way to retrieve pogos is to run your dirt hole auger down next to the cable and they will easily pull out, without bending.

On jaw trap sets I’m going to do that. I’m building a all in one snare support that’s also the anchor for the snare so I was trying to get away from the super stakes on those. If I can get away from lugging my puller around and pull them with a wire that would be ideal.

For some reason I have not perfected that method. Maybe I’m not getting close enough. I tried it with my super stakes but we are in a drought and it didn’t work very well.

Yep , pull mine with a retrieval cable attached at the edge of the washer with a hay hook.

When using your auger to retrieve any kind of earth anchor it’s important to drive them in as strait as possible. When it’s time to pull you need to darn near rub the cable with the auger. For me it works every time as long as the anchor was driven straight to start with . The only hindrance around here anyway is a tree root, hard to get those back without a spade .

Haha! I recently did that. Drove it straight through a root but didn’t realize it. I drilled down beside it but didn’t hit the root and could only pull it up so far. Drilled on the other side and still could only pull it up so far. I was determined now, lol. Went down above and below it and realized what had happened. I could reach the actual anchor but couldn’t break the root. I just disconnected the cable from the quick link and pulled it out backwards!

So I did a test run on my retrievable pogos and a little concerned with what I found. Now we are in a drought so the ground is pretty hard. I got it driven in fine and it retrieved fine but the J hook slotted a pretty big hole in the washer. Not sure what I can do to prevent that. Maybe take a little off the tip of the driver so it’s makes more contact with the washer edge I’m thinking. Any thoughts ?

I thinking a second small washer might be a good idea to prevent pull throughs. Under normal conditions it wouldn’t be an issue I’m thinking.
