No one mentions Deadwood. How does that compare to Yellowstone?

I enjoyed Deadwood. But imo Yellowstone is 100x better.

A friend loaned me all four seasons two days ago.

So far, IMO......the only sane people are Monica's grandfather and Mo......the driver for Thomas Rainwater.
Monica needs a swift kick with a frozen boot.
The only others I would spend time with would be Rip & Lloyd.

Beth's English accent ruins her character IMO. Surely they could have found an American to play that part.

And the grizzly episodes were really phony..IMO

I DID like the juxtaposition of John Dutton holding the rifle while the mouthy Chinese guy was crawling through the barbed wire. "This is America. We don't share the land." LOL !

Deadwood is one of my favorites. Have watched the series several times. The language is Victorian so it can take a little deciphering to understand completely what is being said.

The bases for the two series are very similar. Just a different time frame and technologies available.

Yes sir, no one tackles a grizzly on horseback with just two ropes ...and, none of them even were armed when they took out after it. Someone with the paperwork lost sight of that practicality.

As in any show, there's always some inconsistency ...I have seen several in shootouts , and in one instance, bad tactical execution which in reality, no combat vet would ever do. But in many of those cases, it is done well, otherwise.

And yes, the typical accusation against true American capitalism , and the right to own as much land as you darn well please, is repeated in true form from several true to life sources, from Monica , who needs to go back to the rez and continue to complain and play the victim, those Chinese , and the liberal land grabbers trying everything to take it all away from the Dutton's.

I believe several times throughout the series, you hear that accusation, from jealousy, that no one should be allowed to own so much land.

Those things are true enough, and being played out on a grand scale today .

Otherwise, it is fun and full of characters

wink

The "wolf" footage was pretty hokey also. On the other hand, I will continue to watch just to see how it turns out.

You have a very critical eye white. Just watch it for the entertainment value. If you want to watch some dead on, factual footage, better stick with the Alaskan Bush People. laugh

grin Yes sir, most movies with acting wuffs can be like that .

Just to have fun and laugh at the characters , or enjoy how they think or react , is what I see, along with the weaker moments of what could be said as more factual.

On the other hand, not one thing fake about those horses and the folks shown who ride them. That I can relate to ! cool

You think Beth has an accent on the show? Kelly Reilly's accent is strong in real life, but I've never even noticed a hint of it while in character.

Yeah I will be the first to admit I don't know much at all about horses.

I was appalled when they taped Jimmy into the saddle on that stallion. Talk about shaken baby syndrome !

Reminded me of my only experience with rodeo when I was 18. It involved an inexperienced rider and a saddle bronc.

I had to get up so they could close the gate !! laugh

Yes, I haven't either, she is from New Zealand , I believe, with a thick NZ accent , as does Rip. He is the same way.

Oh it's real obvious to me when she uses words that end with RRRR's . She sounds almost like she is from MA.

I hate it. I know it's picky and trivial but I refuse to watch anything where a British accent is involved

OK, though to hear her naturally, she has that NZ accent , kind of offsets the Britt . Either way, I'm glad it doesn't show totally in the roles. I have heard those slight hints of accent , too, but for the most part they hide them well. It must be hard trying to speak "American" , in choosing which dialect of American English to practice .

I love the show and got to elk hunt Montana once and loved it. We've got multiple politicians that need a trip to the train station.
