Anyone notice spotted lantern fly damage in your neighborhood? It goes for fruit trees from what I understand. Lycorma delicatula is the scientific name.

I live near the epicenter of the spotted lantern fly invasion. They were imported with rocks from China to a quarry about four miles from me. Yes, it is apparently financially feasible to import rocks from China.

We had several years of intense infestation and then their numbers began to drop due to a naturally occurring chemical in our area that is fatal to them. I haven't seen one for a couple of years now.

If I find the article or articles about was caused their demise I will post to this thread.

Eh...wot?

Just yesterday saw several juvenile spotted lantern flies on my eggplants.
I do agree with Lugnut that there are fewer of them around here than a couple years ago.

We are loaded with them in my area of NJ. I haven't noticed any damage yet... I was worried our berry bushes wouldn't come back after last year, and hoping it's not a delayed kill. They were covered in them. But so far so good. The juvies are back in force and all over my plants and flowers this year.

The man I work for has a small apple rchard. They're on one of trees.

I told him he needed to spray or something.
Or it might already be too late.

I've noticed their damage on crab Apple trees too in the area.

IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !
