Shopped at Bass Pro because I had a gift card to burn (FYI - I already dislike the BP and Cabelas). After spending over $200+ on overpriced fishing stuff, the clerk asks if I would like a bag. I am assuming its is a conservation kind of thing. Don't want to be wasteful but I literally have cart full of small fishing hooks, lures, and such, so I say well yes I would like a bag. She then tags a button on the register and yep, I was charged for a bag. I can't believe it. Really? Is this normal and I just haven't noticed?

I already avoid them, and this only adds to my dislike of them.

How much did they charge you for the bag? That is a new one on me, never heard of a store charging for their bags.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Charging for bags is now very common at several local grocery stores in this area.

And around St. Louis, Mo. too, in most of the low price places, Aldi's Shop and Save, Save-a-lot etc. Not a problem for me, they have piles of empty boxes you can take for free.

Just another reason to not shop at Bass Pro or Cabela's. As far as I'm concerned, Cabela's has done nothing but go down hill since Bass Pro took over.

We have a Cabelas and a BP only a few miles apart, and the whole mall the C is in is like a ghost town. About the only store I've ever been in that the clerks out number the customers.

Every place charges for bags. It's built into the price on whatever you buy.

AT least you had the option. Sams or Costco, not an option. Grab your own box.

Aldi is pay for a bag if you want it as well.

Was at a walmart in Calif a few years ago. No bags period. Cart that crap out and toss it in your trunk and let it roll around for a bit

Many lib cities are now banning bags as well.

I will say whenever u see trash blowing around in fields, its usually plastics bags. I only throw away walmart sacks right away, theyre crap. Much like Cabelas/BP. Complete crap. I only spend my points from my credit card there and only keep that card because my bills are set up through it.

This smells like some kind of liberal state law. They don't charge for bags here...

X2. Been thinking about ditching my Cabelas credit card also. Bass Pro completely ruined them. Now they sell mostly China junk like everyone else, they are way overpriced and shipping now takes forever.

After visiting California a few years ago and seeing the plastic bags stuck on bushes and fences along the highways I can see why the stores out there charge for bags. Not sure it helps, but maybe more people will bring their own bags to the store to use. It's a shame people can't be responsible enough to not litter.

I want to ditch mine as well, even the 1.5% you get on the business card is not worth it.
