On the ford ( I think most F series ) there is a manual transmission mode, where ya can select the gears yourself while driving. Like a stick shift without the clutch. Comes in real handy here in the hills and when towing of off road. The problem is that the folks at Ford put those shift buttons in a place where its not easy to get to them and impossible without taking yer hand off the wheel. So my 3 D printer smiled ant me and said hold my beer. I made this thing that activates the buttons via a lever that comes back towards the steering wheel. Now I can shift up or down by pushing that lever forward for up and pulling it back for down. The lever is hollow with a lattice mesh on the inside to keep it very light yet strong. This way is does not put any pressure on the button in its resting position. This is just the proof of concept stage and still needs a little bit of refinement but it works great. I think i'll drive in manual mode from now on for the most part to save on fuel, as i can predict the right gear to use in advance and not just react like the auto transmission has to.

Half the stuff you have to go on YouTube to find out, like if your key fob battery go's dead, you can put it in the cup holder to start the vehicle and all the things you have to do for towing, follow the dash instructions to set up the transmission. the best was when I first drove the truck, stopped at a light & the engine stoped, I don't know how that saves that much gas, but I bet it's hard on the starter, another switch for that. than they come out with a ten speed transmission, on as many hills as we have, the transmission is confused.

I really liked that they added the manual shift mode. But the way they placed the buttons on the stalk was just plain annoying. More so on bumpy surfaces having to take the hand of the wheel, reach behind it and then manipulate those little buttons is next to impossible and a source of frustration. The way I have this set up now I can keep my hands on the wheel and shift up or down with one finger. I may even make some to sell at some point . Still a little bit pf tweaking needed before I am 100% happy with it. At the moment I am on v 3.0 grin but a couple more weeks and I'll run a small series on the printer. Not that anyone would buy something like that as it would mean admitting to driving a Ford laugh

Count the pedals in front of the seat. if you have 4 is a manual ...3 its a automatic and if you have none you are looking at the drinkers side laugh

Interesting idea.
I like the manual mode on my 2019 F-350.

Just checked mileage around home in very rural area, stop and go driving, hills and curves, checking traps, and carrying a heavy cargo of tools is 16.5 mpg. Amazing for a truck that weighs 8,000 pounds empty.

Is it really a manual mode where you exactly control the gear the transmission is in? Or, is it a top gear limiter that restricts the automatic transmission from going to a gear higher than the one selected? I know there's both kinds available in different vehicles but I don't know what type of arrangement Ford trucks have. My Ram is just a high gear limiter. So, I can force a downshift and prevent upshifts above whatever gear number I select. But it will still operate in automatic mode below the selected limit.

I really hate these new close ratio 6-10 speed automatic transmissions. It seems the transmission is never in the right gear and when I want to accelerate a little, it takes too long to shift gears, and when it finally does, it downshifts too far, too late, and revs too high.

Just spit balling as I own nothing this new.
Kart is there adjustment for detent?
As in a cable from throttle / accelerator to trans.
I've adjusted quite a few in elders, they stretch.
Also think different setting from flat highway to mt. back roads.

Imagine the price of the 6-10, yikes.
