Has anyone run across any of these critters yet?

I was reading about them and think I saw some. Sounds like another bad invasive.

That's a spotted lanternfly alright. We're getting quite a few here in the south central part of pa. Couple years ago I was getting fuel down east on the pike and squashed 12 just in the time it took me to fuel my rig

What native specie(s) are they destroying?

Just been reading about them since seeing one. The one I saw looked just like that pic I posted.

If it isn't gypsy moths or emerald ash or the Beatles that are killing conifers, its these from guess where.

Sounds like grape, fruit trees and hardwoods are foremost.

Very worried about them here with tens of thousands of acres of Concord grapes being one of the biggest agricultural money makers. The economy along the Lake Erie shoreline from Buffalo NY to the other side of Erie PA
and the finger lakes region of NY are grape country.
The spotted lantern fly has been known to completely defoliate the vineyards. The little buggers are now encroaching. Hopefully an aggressive spray can curb the fast approaching scourge of this invasive species
