Oil is running out. There are shortages. We need to quit using it anyway. Smog is causing another ice age (climate change) Inflation is being caused by Russia, foreign goods are creating job shortages, violent crime and drug use have skyrocketed, the president was not elected, illegals are taking jobs and spreading disease tike tuberculosis. troop withdrawal is a national shame and should not have happened that way

headlines in 1975

dont seem like much has changed in the last 5 decades........

otter3006 I disagree with you. Those old magazines usually had a kid holding a rabbit or a beagle, the cover was mostly small game on the covers. People hunting in groups not single like now. Hardly ever were there deer. Now a days kids around here dont even hunt for small game more or less see a cove of a magazine with small game on it. Big change to me.....jk

Also, I don't think Outdoor Life is even published in magazine form anymore. Digital only.

As to Danny's original point, we sure don't seem to learn from our mistakes.

For those of us who weren't even born then, lol... what was the article about the President not being elected about?

May not seem like a big deal now but there was a LOT of unrest over Ford being sworn. My family members wanted to hold another election. Said the speaker of the house, Carl Albert, should be president till elections were over. They were also upset that a new yorker who was unable to win ANY national election was appointed to be the new vice president. Look up Nelson Rockefeller.

Deja vu to me seems like,

The media/liberals took down a very popular president (Nixon, won 49 states) and next election one of the worst presidents (Carter, democrat) we've ever had was elected.

They might've topped the worst part this go round! lol

We could learn a lot by taking deja vu lessons from the master himself, but nobody goes there anymore, its too crowded !

To keep prospective just a bit. In the 50s they were just reintroducing deer at least in Indiana. So there were no deer to legally hunt or very few. Yet ther were small family farms with fence rows and tree lines and small acreage fields in-between not the massive 1000 acer fields we see today with no cover.

Naturally magazines would have articles about the game that is available to hunt and people would hunt what's available.

Instead of Gerald Ford, they could have had Spiro Agnew. Only guy I ever heard of named Spiro.

As to Wolfie's comment, what happened after that was Jimmy Carter........(Biden like failures right and left), followed by Ronald Reagan, who did so well setting things straight in his first term, he was re-elected in an Electoral College landslide, winning 49 of 50 states, much to the dismay of the liberal press. They spent the entire 8 years of his presidency trying to take him out like they did Nixon. The first Teflon president. They couldn't get anything to stick.

Reagan laid out the blueprint for all the rest to follow......yet none did. Closest was the Trumpster. Blueprint is still there.

Reagan wasn’t perfect. Economy boomed under his reign. Liberty not so much

Well at lest you got to see Jimmy Carter out fishing ,instead of falling off of bicycles, and smelling little girls.

Does amnesty mean "you are forgiven" or does it mean "you were right in the first place" ?

I guess I don't understand the contention. From what I read, Ford was appointed VP per the guidelines laid out in the 25th amendment. Then naturally became President when Nixon resigned, per the constitution. Sounds like it was all on the up and up, no?

That's how I seen it and remembered it too. Are we wrong Danny?
