I’m sure someone on here will top these. Largest 1lb. 9 ounces.

Nice! May I ask what variety? I can’t grow big ones. That would make a great mater sandwich on white bread!

The variety is Bodacious. Will someone rotate the pic? I thought I knew how but it didn’t work.

Looking mighty good.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Haven't weighed one but I'm confident that we have gotten many super beefsteaks over a pound. Best year for tomatoes in years. I sprayed my plants with"rott stop" when they started blooming and have not had one tomato with blossom end rot.

I was once manager of a facility with several hundred employees. We plowed two very long rows behind the building to be used in a tomato contest. Employees who entered drew a position in a row and were allowed to plant any kind of tomato they wished. If it died, they could replace it. Any fertilizer was allowed. We probably had 75-100 entries.

We did this for three years. Took a two plus pound tomato to come in 1st through 3rd place. This was in Eastern NC.

Lots of research went into breed selection, water, fertilizer, mulch, and lime. Most pruned all fruit except the largest. We corresponded with many ag universities.

Thank you all for the positive comments. Very interesting Charles. I lived in Wilson, NC for about 18 years. I grew tomatoes there but didn’t have enough sunlight. As I said earlier these are Bodacious variety and Burpee says they produce 10 to 12 oz. fruit so I didn’t expect a 25 oz. tomato. I can say they were conservative with their description of the size of the tomatoes. I planted 15 Bodacious plants and I would say all have produced at least one 16 to 25 oz. tomato. The plants were not suckered or any tomatoes removed to try to increase the size. The plants are about 6 feet tall with full sun. I’ve planted lots of varieties over the last 40 years. This is the first time I’ve planted these and I will plant them again. I recommend fertilizing tomatoes when you plant them and don’t fertilize again for at least 6 weeks or after the plant has set several tomatoes and some are about the size of a tennis ball. I try to be positive on here but I will say everything with gardening seems harder today than ever due to insect and disease pressure. I also recommend pulling a soil sample and getting a full soil analysis. My soil samples showed my garden and food plots were low in sulfur and boron. Good luck everyone with your gardens and food plots.
