Theres a reason Glock is the most widely used pistol in law enforcement. Worldwide i believe. Glock 48 mos with a rail-get a streamlight tlr 7 sub light and a shield arms 15 round mag. All will fit nicely in an inside the waistband holster. People always blow off the light, even though most arent cats and can see in the dark. Or get a sig. A liberal’s wet dreams. The gun that actually does shoot people….without people.

This has been my experience as well with Caniks...They might be the "highest quality for the money" 9mm handguns out there.

Sure there are higher quality guns out there, but these are a good value.

Here are the real questions. What is the value of your life and safety? How about the lives and safety of those you care about? I would not consider placing my trust in the quality equivalent of a Rough Rider .22 revolver.

Ruger is known for high quality engineering, design, and manufacturing. They are by no means bargain guns. In 45 years of a tremendous amount of shooting they have been reliable. If you find one that you like and it fits you it will take care of you. I have trusted Ruger for my own and my family’s safety everywhere from big city urban areas where the hood rats prey upon business people and travelers to the remote parts of Alaska where black, grizzly, brown bear, and moose prey on the timid and unprepared. And all places in between. And yes, Wifey and I practice very regularly in realistic situations.

If you want to move up from Ruger, look at the regular Sig line. To move up even more, look at the Sig Legion series.

Or, how about an offer - I will sell you two nearly new Ruger SR9 full size 9mm pistols and then I will buy a Sig Legion.

I don't see how a guy can go wrong with a Glock 17. Donner made a good suggestion, go to TA in Waite Park, you can try out different guns there. That is where I got my Glock 17.

Also, you said you were looking for a "full" size sidearm, take a look at the HKs, love my VP9.

did they fix the extraction issues

some of the early reviewers of the SA-35 wanted to love it but started having issues with extraction after only 800 rounds

also FN got the idea to start making the high power again although at around 1200 not really budget then again the sa-35 is 8-900

I would think about what is your use full size guns run from duty to wildly on the competition side that are really not practical at all to carry.

will you carry or just range toy?
how will you carry?
what is your goal?
what is your game , are you planning to IDPA, USPSA, bullseye, or some other shooting sport?

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I hate striker fired pistols. I love my CZ 75 compact. Fairly easy carry with 15 rd magazine and exposed hammer with decocker.

Many of the Canik pistols are copies of the CZ 75. Might want to look into both manufacturers - CZ and Canik

Thanks for the input. I will give a few of your suggestions a good test and see what works. I just wanted a good base to start from and I think I have that now.
