Volunteer, sprouted by barn door.
Over 10' tall and about 10 flowers/ seed heads.

Will save seeds, and supercharge my dove patch next year, lol.

Must be that radioactive Pax River sediment.

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Hey stranger, it's why our crabs taste so good!
Stepped out of the boat last week, a foot of water but went passed my knees, lol.

Hope you are well!

Several varieties produce multiple heads instead of the one big head

They get that tall?
We planted some years ago, but recall them being 4-5 feet.

Sunflower varieties, that cross fertilize each other, can throw all sorts of variants.

F-2 generation the seeds were from a F-1 plant with a closed cover and pollination from 1 bee. Offspring always show multi head displays.
what it got was lots of water and old nitrogen fertilizer to grow that tall against the barn.
Off spring will be 5 feet in the field
if you can get up there to bag the heads before the birds get there first

Dwarf varieties only get 2-3

This is one plant, over 60 flowers. Little black sunflower seed most likely from my neighbors bird feeder. For height comparison note the walk-in garage door on the right side of the picture.

Not all of them but a few yes. Most on the first planting are 6to7' with a few jumping higher.

My 2nd planting half is closer to 4' and 7 on the other. I think its depends on how good the dirt is.
