Making those solar panels look better now doesn't it. I always wonder why there is never easy access to solar or wind, it’s like they just don’t offer a simple solution to either option really it’s treated more as a novelty really. So is it too expensive, inefficient or difficult to set up?

Just watch how much higher those rates are going to go when y'all get yer electric cars and trucks. Ya'll be remembering the 5 bucks a gallon fuel price as the good old times.
Let's go Brandon

So is it too expensive, inefficient or difficult to set up? Expensive up front cost. And 7 to 15 year returns on investment. Battery's are Expensive around half the cost and go bad every so often. You can stay grid tied and not need Battery's. I have been looking at them for years. I can read about it tell I'm blue in the face but for me to learn I need to be hands on. I keep waiting tell I'm ready to drop 20k on a system and it never happens. Now I'm thinking I may start with a smaller system with micro inverters I can add to later. This will be more for a science experiment for me than anything.

I installed my own 7.6 kw system three years ago and sure it cost me 15k up front but now my electric bills are about $12-13 a month! Doing the math it’s closer to a 5 year return on my investment, possibly less with the rising cost of utilities. Why would anyone wait?? Up front cost is it for me. Electric is not my only expense. Kind school, brokerage accounts, farm improvements, vehicles that get me to work ect. Life like everyone else.

I need to fix my boiler by winter also I doubt LP will be very cheap this season. I need to replace the controls that were damaged in the fire it’s not as difficult as it sounds really just some wiring needs to be done. I was shocked that the swing panel with most of the controls was only like $330 dollars I thought it would of cost more.

I've not paid attention. How much of solar panels is subsidized? Seems like the 70's again. But you still have to be connected to the grid and sell back your unused power for 10 cents on the dollar's worth. Ain't no way around getting off the grid unless you go back in the sticks away from everyone and tell no one of your power generation.
How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

If you have batteries there is no need to be connected to the grid in Indiana. The buy back rate is wholesale not retail in my area but I believe that is dependent on the utility. I will get hosed because we are part of an electric Co-op.. they have different rules than a normal utility.

Seems like the 70's again. 25% A while back I read where with the tremendous strides that have been made in adding renewable energy sources such as wind and solar in the last 20 years, it has about a 2% effect on energy needs. If we were to switch over to all renewable energy and eliminate fossil fuel it would be back to the stone age.
