Yesterday afternoon before the rain came I verified the specs on the sawmill. This morning I selected and fell the first victim. Decided to start small and work my way up.

Didn’t measure it.

Raining again but I’m ready when it stops.

It's a pioneer species and reseeds everywhere.

Up in the lowlands some of the scrub spruce in the muskeg are 300 years old and are only an inch in diameter and maybe 3 feet tall.
Need microscope to count rings.

Looks more like 13 inch radius than diameter. Just optical illusion I guess.......jk

It is the angle the picture was taken. I have some that are 28” diameter. lol

When I get one of those babies on there I’ll post a contrast pic.

The 13” was the measure 9’ up from the stump.

Here is the stump measure.

Doing the math on this tree that is a few feet away, it’s diameter is 22”.

That stunted black spruce grows so thick it seems a bunny would struggle to fight its way through it. This one looks to be somewhere between eighty and a hundred years old. The rings are so tight you need a very sharp saw and a magnifying glass to accurately define them. Took it off a friends property in North Pole. [Linked Image]
