I drove a 69 mustang coupe through high school. Sold it in 83 when I started in construction. $425 bought a new Toyota 4X4 off the lot.
In 87 the local Ford dealer had a 67 Shelby Cobra 350 on their lot for 20,000.00. I test drove it. The bank would not give me a loan because I had just started my own masonry business and could not provide enough documentation of income. Huge regret selling the 69 and not being able to buy the Shelby. I retire in a couple years and will have another 60’s muscle car.

Just get it in good
Mechanical condition...and drive the wheels of it. Older cars and trucks with some stank and patina on them..just attract me ..like a moth to a light bulb.

X2

Just last week I was stopped at a roundabout waiting my turn when a 65 GTO rolled through . Not some restored beauty queen ( nothing wrong with that either ) but a driver , prolly never restored . It had a good dent in the rear quarter panel and a couple of others , a little surface rust but not much . I didn't see any rot . It was dirty and looked like it hadn't been washed in yrs . The GTO badges were still there in full glory . Steelies and dirty caps . It was white to boot ( my favorite color ) . It was like a ghost had come out of a nearby garage for a day . You never see these cars as daily drivers . They are either fully restored Sunday driver's or somebody's someday car , all in pieces hidden away in a garage or barn for ever .

I followed a bit , thinking I should ask if he'd trade or sell ( prolly gets that every day ) , then he turned off my direction ....... prolly never see it again

Anti Gov…was in my 2015 GMC truck at a traffic light in town….then this big ol Dodge ..with Fins ,pulls up along side me . I yell out the window ..Nice Ride ! ..the guy was probably late 40’s. I said 59 or 60… he replies 1958 . 2 door too….green with white roof …looked like it was just pulled out of grandmas garage….had some stank on it …but was all there…didn’t see any rust holes. Wish I could have pulled the guy over to look at it..love cars that are drivers

I'm still kicking myself for selling my '66 Chevy half ton for $335 back about 1980, 327 V8, four speed with granny gear.
What was I thinking?

Nessmuck, I acquired a basket case over 20 years ago and it took me over 2 years to put her together and get her tuned up. No worries about getting any speeding tickets but do get pulled over on occasion by some curious LEO. Most are pretty cool about it and I enjoy talking with them. Really messes with them when they find out the throttle is on the left side and it's a foot clutch/hand shift. Just one of several old Indian motorcycles I have.

Fire engine red 77 super glide 1200 CC shovelhead is my baby. Miss my 67 GTO the first wife got and I was stuck with a 61 corvair and the bills.

I’m weird and I know it. I’ve been trying to decide between these 2 for a couple weeks. Wife is mortified about the 73 caddie. I think it’s awesome
