With Biden letting refineries make E15 is 87 still 10%?? Kind of confusing about if its safe for a 2018 60 Mercury Command Thrust. Also, safe travels for those heading home from the NTA convention.

E10 ('regular' unleaded gas w/10% ethanol) is rated 87 octane. E15 (unleaded gasoline w/15% ethanol) has an octane rating of 88.

Always follow the engine manufacturer's fuel recommendations.

E15 in marine engines has been shown to be detrimental to both engine components and performance. (Note: ethanol attracts water causing corrosion.)
Mercury recommends use of a high octane, premium non-ethanol gasoline in their engines of 15 hp and higher.

The pump should say on it what product is being delivered. Usually something like "May contain up to 10% ethanol."

We put ethanol(gas line antifreeze) in our small engine gas in winter to prevent frozen gaslines etc.
Like was said-ethanol binds to the water that is in all gas and allows it to pass thru and burn up in the engine.

Our gas line antifreeze is a little different down here ... isopropyl and/or methyl alcohol (methanol) depending on the brand. They (alcohols) all do the same thing ... filling the spaces between water molecules, lowering the freezing temperature of the water within fuel.

In NC our weights and standards group (part of Dept of Agriculture I think) inspects all pumps for accuracy and they require the ethanol designation as well.

anything after 2006 should be flex fuel and able to take E10 , E15 and E85 , check your owners manual

my sons 2011 F150 states e85 safe right on the gas filler

most post 2002 are good for E15 and E15 is the only thing you can get in many places

Iowa,
Is it possible your state has mandated ethanol so they don't need to put it on the pumps
