Been to the grocery store an looked for the baking sized potatoes three weeks in a row now. The first two time I didn’t think much about it. Went today an they have put sweet potatoes in the spot where the others use to be. Anyone else noticing this anywhere?

LOL, I planted a few extra rows when I was seeing empty shelves.

Mentioned it to a buddy of mine, he said he planted a few hundred feet extra!

I paid $5 for 5# today. My Dad said some day we'd pay $5 for a loaf of bread and we will.

I’ve noticed the quality has gone downhill. Seems to be a rotten one in there a lot of times.

Haven't seen a shortage but the quality went down and the price doubled.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Idaho and russet bakers are at the end of last seasons availability. New crop should start showing up in stores in a few weeks.

Here in WI we have plenty potatoes, but do notice the price on Russets is up quite a bit. Mine should be ready soon, the vines are starting die back. I will wait until the sugar from the vines goes into the tubors. Looks like a very good crop this year.

I see the local tater growers here sprayed their crop to kill the plants last week. I would expect the new crop harvest to begin this week. It looks like a good crop here. I might have to buy 50# or so and try canning them.

Keep an eye out. A lot of the fields you are allowed to go through and pick up potatoes after the harvest is done. Get a couple hundred pounds to last you until next fall.
