On 'cats, the eyes seem to be the hardest for most taxidermist to get just right.

When a bobcat mount looks right though you and makes you swallow hard, the taxidermist has got it down pat !!!
Few will capture that 'live' look, but there are some that do.

He nailed it.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Why is it I'm expecting an explosion in just a moment when I look at that mount?

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't think the eyes look right. Maybe it's the angle of the photo?

Granted I've not seen a lot of bobcats in person or studied reference pics. For what it's worth I dont care for most of the feline and canine mounts I've seen, one of the reasons I'll never get one done.

No disrespect to the artist, I just don't see it like you guys do.

I've seen cats that look just like that right before they lay back their ears, start hissing and growling and lunge at the side of the pen. I had one in a pen collecting urine when I was a young'un. When anyone but me approached the pen, old Sylvester would look just like that and begin his hissing and growling. He only put up with me because I fed him.

It doesn't look quite right to me either, but easily better than 95% of the cat mounts I've seen. Cats are about the toughest thing for a taxidermist to get right, and the thing I hate the most to see done badly. Amazing how many people who will come out west and spend thousand to go on a bobcat or lion hunt, and then take it to their buddy back home who has never seen one before, much less mounted one, because they can save a few hundred bucks on a once in a lifetime trophy.

Let me rephrase that after looking at the mount again. I've seen that look on a cats face before, more than once. But not with that body posture. Both body and face are good, they just don't go together quite, and that is why it doesn't look quite right to me.

With those eyes I think it should be starting to show a few teeth or starting to growl ? Still a very nice mount!
