I'm guessing it's not porch pirates, but actually terribly incompetent FedEx drivers.
I try to never use FedEx anymore. Three out of the past six deliveries of mine have been made to the wrong address.

Tell Fed Ex to send a pic where they delivered. Most Amazon deliveries do this now at our house. I'll bet a neighbor got some free food.

fed ex delivers to the wrong house all the time here.
did they have a picture of it on the porch?
people in town will post the picture of not their porch (mostly an amazon prime thing) on the local FB page and ask if anyone recognizes that they frequently find their package across town.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I love when the Fed Ex guy comes late , He's in a rush, So he leaves the package hanging at the mailbox. Go down to the mailbox & nothing hanging. So call Fed Ex & they say wait two days to file, They say maybe a neighbor has it, Yea right, that package is gone.

The way I was told is fedx says they pay by the hour, but its a per day scale. If it takes longer than the allotted time to make deliveries, road construction, accident, no matter, the rate is the same. The guys I talked to, (we were building a bigger parking lot) said they NEVER get done early
Everything is done with GPS. Its why wrong address deliveries are so common

I try to never use FedEx anymore. Three out of the past six deliveries of mine have been made to the wrong address. I'm guessing this. Don't know about FedEx, specifically.............but UPS cand bring up (within seconds) an aerial photo of the delivery, including where the truck was parked, where the driver scanned the package and where the driver left the package all labeled on that picture. A few years back, FedEx tracking showed a package as being delivered to my porch. It contained 500 checks for my account. Long story short we cancelled all those numbers........ re-ordered checks only to have the original package turn up sticking out of the snow beside a guy's garage over in town 3/4 of a mile away. Shipping is like a lot of other things. You often get what you pay for.

I doubt it was porch pirates. Much more likely to be Fedex. They lost the same package twice in a row on me once. Both times said it was delivered. Never got it. On a couple different occasions in the past couple years they've caught Fedex drivers down this way just tossing dozens of packages into ravines in the country.

Once upon a time I was supposed to have two packages delivered on the same day. One was delivered by UPS and the other by FedEx. The UPS package was apparently stolen because UPS sent us a picture of it sitting by our front door. We checked the FedEx delivery (which we did receive) and there was a picture of their package sitting on the front step. However, in the FedEx picture, we could see a reflection in the glass of the front storm door. In the reflection, we could see the image of the FedEx delivery man with the UPS package in hand while he snapped the picture of his FedEx box. We reported it and provided copies of the pictures but never heard anything back.
Note: The two companies in the story above could have been reversed. I forget now which company the apparent driver/thief worked for.
