Is there a convention “host” hotel or any offering discounts if we are there for the NTA Convention?

the host is the casino and basic room are 95 for show if booked before end of the year

I doubt that will happen. Not enough population density to support a national convention.That’s why the regional conventions were started, to give the trappers outside the “main” area a taste of what a big convention is like. Worked ok the first couple of years, not so much since then.

If any one can pull off getting a national convention in the west, it will be Rusty Kramer of the Idaho,Trappers..b

I tried several motels in town Roy and have to call back in Sept. You said the casino was full already so I didn't call them.

Booked Monday at the casino after you said to call and tell them its for the NTA convention. No problem.

In the past it was east of the Miss, one year west the next. I have no idea why that changed.

Gotta have states with enough volunteers willing to host the conventions. Put in a bid and you have a good chance of getting it.

about nta shows get your town or state to bid , this year one bid, last year one bid, so not much option

I was at a funeral for the son of another Alaskan wilderness trapper this past Saturday. Ray Lewis and wife and a couple daughters were there . Ray actually works in Fairbanks in the off season. They have a large riverboat he build and they move around on the Yukon R. drainage to a different spot each year. Interesting guy/family. There was quite the collection of wilderness users at the funeral. Sad occasion but good to see folks I don’t normally see.
For you young, single Alaskan wannabe guys……..I believe all 3 of Rays daughters are still single. All are adults now. Additional, there was another now single wilderness woman at that funeral. She, and her young son, literally live in the middle of nowhere. Fly in only. No other serious trappers around her.

I believe Ray has a Michigan connection too? Maybe born here or lived here a while?
