If you are not a baseball fan you probably never heard of him. Scully was a legendary broadcaster, for the Dodgers. I was never a Dodger fan, but to listen to Skully broadcast a game was pure entertainment. I think years ago he did the "Game of the Week." Rest in Peace Vin Scully.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Great Broadcasters Nevah die….you hear that voice, and it just brings you back to a simpler time. The one I miss …is the Celtic play by play man…the greatest.. Johnny Most.
Pat Summerall and Madden were a great team too

Started listening to him when I was 9-10. I was kid on the farm with a 9 volt transistor AM radio and listened to Dodger games most summer nights. Vin Scully was absolutely the best. He usually worked alone and could tell an engaging story about Mel Ott, all the while keeping track of balls and strikes and batting averages, etc. and never said the word "um" or "uh." Flawless memory. Always the consummate gentleman.
There will never, ever be another one even close to Vin Scully. Oh my,I also had a transistor radio, and listen to the Phillies games at night under the covers ,till Mom came in and told us to put the radios away, and get to sleep, lol

His call of the last inning of Sandy Koufax's 1965 perfect game is a classic.

Being a Phillies fan from just a young boy in the sixties I remember listening to the games on the radio with my father in the evening. Evening entertainment! Later on my favorites were Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn and his renowned oh boy..

Bigbrownie, who was the Pirate announcer that walked from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. I do not recall all the details but I think the Pirates had a double digit lead against the Phillies and he said if the Pirates lose this game he would walk to Pittsburgh.

I think that might be correct.

I vaguely recall that story Nittany. Might have been Prince. Prince and Nellie King were a great pair. Prince came up with the Green Weinie …a plastic hot dog toy that fans shook at the opposing team to jinx them. This is from Time Magazine…. According to the August 12, 1966 issue of Time magazine, however, the hex of the Green Weenie sometimes seemed to work: "When the Pirates played the Giants two weeks ago, Prince pointed a Weenie at Juan Marichal. Marichal won the game, 2–1, but next day he caught the third finger of his pitching hand in a car door and missed two scheduled turns on the mound. In Pittsburgh, the Pirates were trailing the Philadelphia Phillies 3–1 in the seventh inning when Prince's fellow announcer Don Hoak begged Bob to use the Weenie. 'Not yet,' said Prince. In the eighth inning, with Pittsburgh still behind by two runs, Prince finally waved the Weenie. The Pirates scored four runs and won the game 5–3. 'Remember,' said Prince to Hoak. 'Never waste the power of the Green Weenie.'"
