My wife and I are driving to Newfoundland to moose hunt in Sept. What are some nice locations to visit along the way in Maine and Nova Scotia? We are looking for places that are not necessarily tourist traps, more interested in scenery and small fishing towns. Thank you.

Acadia National Park. Although, it may be too many people for you. However, being in September, I’m guessing a large part of the crowds will be gone.

Get off 95 north of Portland, Brunswick exit. Run out to these places. Beautiful place. Only 20-30 minutes off the interstate.

Route 9 from Calais to brewer is nice same with route 1 from Washington county all the way to Waldo county . I95 north of Bangor mt. Katahdan , Baxter state park, then do t forget about moose head lake. Acadia national park is cool but everything is a tourist trap.

Right over the bridge into Maine (Exit 3) is Kittery Trading Post. Good place to stop for lunch and check out one of the largest gun rooms in the northeast.

Been there hated it. Tourist trap and nothing but a tourist trap. We were at Bar Harbor the 1st week of Sept. a few years ago. Tour buses everywhere, people everywhere. Where we ate the food sucked and was pricey.

WISH I HAD MORE TIME TO TRAP!
