Which is your favorite animal to hunt? Rabbits, squirrels, pheasants, grouse, waterfowl, chukar, woodcock, etc., etc. Eastern fox and gray squirrels are mine.

I used to really love hunting pheasants. But I don't live where pheasants do these days so now it's squirrel. And coon!

Squirrel, if I had a good place to hunt doves that would be my second choice.

Grouse with the kids. Used to hunt pheasants in Nebraska, Kansas, and South Dakota, and waterfowl in Colorado and Nebraska. Hopefully get the kids into shooting some ducks with me this winter.

Squirrels first, followed very closely by stalk and spot for cottontails. Preferably with a small bore muzzleloader.

Squirrels with the boys followed by dove then rabbits. But dove first if it's a field as hot as Argentina.

Honestly it does not matter as long as it's having fun with my kids and watching them learn and succeed.

I’ve hunted every species of small game available in the Midwest. I own a duck hunting property that we routinely kill 1000 ducks out of our blind, and i own a pack of beagles for chasing rabbits. If I had to give them all up but one (thank goodness I don’t have to) I’d have to keep my squirrel hunting. It’s part of my roots and something that I dearly love. Thursday I took my 5 year old grandson on his first squirrel hunt. He just watched, just like I did at that age. He saw me kill 10, 7 out of 1 tree. He hasn’t quit talking about it says my daughter lol. He enjoyed dressing them as much as the hunt. I hope it sticks with him like it did me.
We’ve got a 8 1/2 month long season and a 10 squirrel daily limit and they eat better than any wild game IMO.
Lots of reasons to be a squirrel hunter round here.

Chukar for sure, my best season with my brother was 152. Trapping and waterfowl hunting takes up most my time during the fall and winter but I always love chasing chukar when I can.

Which species of grouse do you hunt?

Used to raise and train pointing dogs. Pheasant over my #1 Britt was my absolute favorite........even though the birds were stocked. No dogs left. Pheasants are on a separate stamp you buy. Grouse (our state bird) are statistically extinct here, now. There's a few squirrels here and there and scarce few rabbits.

I've got a couple wonderful small game/bird guns..........and virtually nothing to hunt with them. Darned shame.

Mostly ruffled but still find a few blues. When I get either down to Montpelier or Salmon I can find some spruce.
Had a great day a couple winters back. Shot my limit of ruffled while getting up to my wolf line.

Ruffed grouse was my favorite when we had some. Pheasants when we had them. Sharp tail grouse when I was stationed in South Dakota as well as pheasant out there. Rabbits were very tasty. Ruffed Grouse was the best tasting by far.

Nothing beat an opening afternoon dove hunt when there are plenty of birds.
