Oldest son works for Kawasaki in Maryville, Mo. He says the John Deere engines are a separate run and employees can't even buy them.

From the sounds of it, you may have better luck finding a new wife and kids that will haul the water.

I don't see to many women or men packing 5 gallon buckets of water 1/4 to 1/2 a mile myself included. Hopefully on Monday I will call and hear my motor has allready on it way to the US form Canada. Probably not very likely but hopefully the dealerni called has the details worked out and some idea on estimated arrival date. Fingers crossed.

If I end up with a new machine it will not be green becuse of the trouble getting parts and prices of them. Heck a caliper for that little thing was $300 last year and the worst part had China cast into the part.

I think I'm leaning towards honda pioneer or Kubota if buying new. If I buy used it will be what ever I find at a good value.

PF, have you considered checking with atv junkyards . .? You can find them online and some of them sell rebuilt motors as well as other used parts. Just a thought....

I don't know about ATV junkyards. But it does sound interesting. I do enjoy junkyards.

I'm away at work but my wife told me the gator died today up by the barn. When asked for more details she said it made a metallic sound then died. She thinks the motor is done. She is probably right but I won't be home tell Tuesday afternoon to look it over.

I guess I will call the JD dealer and see if they were successful in getting the motor from Canada and when I should be expecting it. If not it time to shop for a new one.

Sound high for the hours mine has 2765..

Update. I found a motor with different # on it that was overlooked. Its was a little over 5 head away and I picked it up when I got off work yesterday morning. It was $1650

I got it installed today with my boys "help" I told them what to do and they took it a part and put it back together except the lifting and breaking the really tight bolts loose. T hey even got a few of the tight ones and learned what a cheater pipe is for. Only took 4.5 hrs going slow.

The old motor looks to have thrown a rod on Sunday so it worked out well.

The bed is starting to rust so it still off I plan to sand it down and paint it. Maybe even take it to be line x inside and out if I can get a good price if they can knock it out while doing another truck
