Guss OP trapper G Joined: Apr 2022 Posts: 3,785 Wisconsin	I bought theses at Menards and they use to be sharp. After cutting a few cables they lost there cutting abilities.

Hoosier71 trapper H Joined: Oct 2017 Posts: 645 Southern Indiana	I'm following because I have the same issue. However, for what it's worth, I ended up cutting my disposable stake cables over the weekend with a 1 inch chisel. It worked great.

I demoted them to cutting wire and bought a pair of these from Funke's they cut clean every time and they aren't as expensive as my C7's. https://www.funketraptags.com/product-page/cable-cutters

Unfortunately, good cable cutters aren't cheap.

I have the felco C7s and yes they work great but there is no need to pay over $20 for a set of cable cutters. They are easier on the hands, smaller, and easier to carry on the line than the bigger C7 style as well. They are great for removing tighly cinched snares as well.

I never gave them a second look because of how crude the metal appears. I judged the book by the cover I guess. Must be made of harder steel than what they look like.
