When your time is up?
Was thinking on this the other day....as we occasionally see where one of the Trapperman clan has gone to the other side.
I would like to propose an idea: If you don't have a family member that you leave your trapping equipment to, why not leave them for some youngster on here that deserves some help? We could create a Trapperman committee that would allocate them out as it sees fit. Maybe Wolfie at the helm?
Anyway, I'm just putting out the idea to see if it gets any traction. I've got to think that a lot of guys/gals that can no longer trap, or know their days are numbered might like to think that their equipment could be shared on down the road to someone meritorious of them. Kind of a legacy.
Whatcha all think?

Half of them already belong to my youngest daughter who was my trapping partner for eight years. I bet if I leave my half to my granddaughter who is my current trapping partner my daughter would donate her half. Current partner:
Eh...wot?

At this point in time my middle son would be the most likely to use them I think. I hope to have at least another 40 or 50 years on this rock, so who knows what the future holds for grandkids that might want them. Or if trapping will even still be a thing 40 years from now.

Good post bpeeler. I've thought along the same lines a lot lately. I've got a kid in mind. He doesn't know it yet, and his dad has no idea, either. I figure I'll load my truck and a trailer with a couple thousand traps and just go drop 'em off on their driveway late some night.

you know you could say GUNS and have nearly identical discussion.
mine and the wife's Will is written all of our positions at time of death are to be divided evenly among the kids they may not sell the guns to anyone. but may trade or buy from each other they may continue to gift them down the line to their kids and such within the family.
the lawyer told me when I wrote it that way it wouldn't be binding once they have possession they can do as they please but I said it represents my wishes and if they are going to be little turds I will give them to deserving homes before I pass , keep in mind I wrote this while they were toddlers and infants.
the Will set up who got the kids , executors and stuff like that with primary and backups so if we died in a car crash or something they were taken care of.
now that they are adults 2 of them have very little interest in guns at this time they are still both in school one or both might like a pistol at some point but those two just have no interest in hunting or trapping.
we will see grandkids , maybe don't have any yet , I have nieces so maybe I give them some
all my traps already have my sons name on them as all our trap tags have both of our dnr customer numbers which is all we are required to have.

Besides a couple in my casket, my wife can sell them. No family members of mine want to trap. If I know I'm going to bite it I'd probably give away some to a few kids I taught.
